So if you’ve been reading KettlebellWall for long, you know how much I love interval training. (It’s what actually gets results!)
Here’s a different approach to intervals that uses active recovery between exercises. The active recovery? Slingshots.
It’s worth trying with any set of kettlebell exercises — or you can follow along with the video once or twice or even 3 or 4 or 5 times for a solid workout.
Here’s the video:
www.KettlebellAthletics.com This 30/30 Ketlebell circuit is a great little metabolic conditioning circuit. In this circuit the rest period is replaced with active rest using sling shots. 4-5 rounds of this gives you a 16-20 minute workout. www.WorkoutMuse.com
It’s a cool video from a guy — Joe Pavel (not THE Pavel) — who’s been an RKC for a long time. So he knows kettlebells. And he knows how to be careful with them. And not get injured.
But this video demonstrates an exercise that if you do it, you could get injured. In fact, strike “could” from that last sentence. Replace it with “will.” If you do this exercise, you will get injured.
Pavel Tsatsouline is the founder of the modern kettlebell movement. Here, Pavel discusses what is unique to his HardStyle kettlebell training and to his RKC instructor program.
Oh wait, just to make sure, you do know what The Beast is, right? It’s a 48 kg / 106 lb kettlebell.
And while 106 lb may not seem like that much to a normal lifter, squatting barbells and the like, when it comes to kettlebells multiply the weight by a factor of 3 or 4 to start to imagine what working with The Beast is like.
It takes grace. And it takes grit.
Well, Dragon Door has put together The Beast Tamer Hall Of Fame.
To tame The Beast you have to successfully complete 3 exercises:
You have to Press The Beast
You have to do a Pistol with The Beast
You have to do a tactical Pull Up with The Beast
And to date there are only 13 people who have successfully tamed The Beast.
I think that’s worth mention in The Beast Tamer Hall Of Fame.
