$1,000 Discount Ends in 2 Days – CK-FMS Workshop in October with Brett Jones

Hey got this via email from Dragon Door and wanted to make sure you were aware. There’s a $1,000 discount that ends April 29th… Plus if you wait too long you won’t even be able to go because the last CK-FMS workshop sold out 7 months in advance.

Certified Kettlebell-Functional Movement Specialist (CK-FMS) Workshop – Gray Cook, RKC, Brett Jones, Master RKC October 23 – 26, 2010.

Here’s what the email from Dragon Door said:

Now being recognized as one of the premier trainings available in the United States, the CK-FMS has truly raised the bar for our RKC community.

Those RKCs who have taken the CK-FMS are declaring it a “must-have” for the serious coach and trainer.

So, not surprisingly, the May 2010 CK-FMS has now sold out, seven months in advance!

The good news is that we’ve set up a new CK-FMS workshop for October 2010.

Click here now for complete information or to register.

Pavel himself was so impressed by his original experience at the CK-FMS that he decided to attend for a second time as a participant.

If the “Chief” himself is prepared to make this kind of commitment to a program, I would say this sends a big signal to the rest of us…

We realize that for many of you in this economy, times have been a little harder. No better way, to change that challenge than by making yourself so much more valuable and effective with your clients. The CK-FMS will do this for you in spades!

We are offering a massive $1,000.00 discount if you register by April 29, 2010. For complete details on our website click here now.

On top of that you can spread the investment over four months.

Kettlebell Sandbag TRX Circuit

Hey found this browsing this morning. The circuit is good — using kettlebells, sandbag, and TRX or other suspension gym — though I’d recommend you learn your form elsewhere… Like from Dragon Door.

The Kettlebell Windmill

From High Octane Corrective Exercise and Performance Enhancement at Robertson Training Systems

The Kettlebell Windmill

One of my favorite kettlebell exercises is the KB windmill. I’m sure if Brett Jones is reading this he’s getting a laugh out of it. Here’s the 1-minute story.

I wrote an article for Dragon Door a while back about how powerlifters can benefit from using kettlebells in their programming. I put a picture of myself in there performing a windmill, and Brett subtly let me know that my technique was off. It wasn’t so much on purpose – I had been taught incorrectly, but it was funny nonetheless.

New Turbulence Training Kettlebell Training Program

So I’ve been a fan of Turbulence Training and Craig Ballantyne for longer than I’ve known about kettlebells. When I was going through my latest serious fat-burning period (started at 209, now low 180s) his program helped tremendously.

So when I heard there’s a Turbulence Training program for kettlebells … Well … I knew I had no choice but to share it with you!

Now a bit of a disclaimer here … It’s not Craig Ballantyne himself who teaches this course. No, it’s one of his original certified instructors, Chris Lopez.

And even though Ballantyne is good at spotting things that will work with fitness, he actually ignored kettlebells for a while. He even did secret kettlebell workouts at home, behind Lopez’s back, as he tested the fat-incinerating power of kettlebells (you can read the full story at the link below). But now he’s fully on board, and thinks you should be too.

I don’t have room to tell you the whole story here. So go ahead and click the link below to be taken straight to the Turbulence Training Kettlebell Revolution Fat Loss Workouts story:

Kettlebell workout success stories

I love to hear stories like this.

Cynthia E. lost 135 pounds and gained incredible confidence without stepping foot in a gym, thank to the help of kettlebell workouts.

Fitness trainer and flight attendant Susan H. has discovered kettlebell workouts are the single most efficient way to tone and build muscle, and has a lofty goal that could make it easier for you to work out with kettlebells while you’re on the road.

And world-champion drug-free powerlifter Bud Jeffries — who has lifted more than 700 pounds in competition — swears by the effectiveness of kettlebell training.

A kettlebell workout approach to burn fat fast

Found this exciting article from Mike Geary. It’s about a unique way to combine kettlebell exercises to work more muscles in less time, and ramp up your body’s own fat-burning furnace. Try doing this without sweating more than you have in the past month. I dare ya. Stay strong!

Barbell and Kettlebell Complexes to Take Your Body to a New Level of Hardness and Conditioning

Mike Geary, NCSF-CPT, AFAA-CPT

If you’ve never heard of “complexes” before, the basic concept is that instead of repeating the same exercise for multiple reps to complete a “set”, you sequence one rep of several different exercises right after one another and repeat the sequence several times to complete a “set”.

This type of training is excellent to work a huge amount of musculature in a short amount of time, and definitely takes your workouts to a whole new level of intensity. The conditioning aspect of this type of training is amazing, as you’ll find yourself huffing and puffing after repeating a sequence a mere two or three times.

If I had to venture a guess, I’d have to say …

Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans Use Kettlebells

Saw a cool Men’s Fitness article recently on New NFL Training Methods, thought I’d share. In it, it reveals the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans have both added kettlebells to their weight rooms recently.

The description of “why” they did is more telling — and why kettlebells should and will continue to be adopted by more and more athletes:

The biggest benefit? When players swing a kettlebell, the weight distribution changes, unlike with regular dumbbells where weight remains equal. This forces the user to stabilize more parts of his body, hitting his core, and helping to increase grip strength as he adjusts to control the weight.

Exactly why kettlebells are such a powerful training method!

Other new training methods? Bikram “Hot” Yoga, Mixed Martial Arts, and Acupuncture. Interesting.

Kettlebell Workouts Lead To Mom’s Weight Loss

Found this great quote in a blog post about how success at fitness all comes down to “just do it” — no matter where you’re at now or where you want to get to.

I have given birth 6 times. I am 40 years old and not long ago a friend of mine said to me, “Leah you were just meant to be chunky.” NOT…I started with boot camp at the Y and now am an avid kettlebell enthusiast. I melted inches off my 4′ 10″ frame and dropped pants sizes. I have tight biceps and triceps and endurance to spare. I did it. I do it everyday. If you love your family then use them as your motivation. Good luck. If you do something for 21 days straight it becomes a habit. Start today and don’t stop.

Quick Hotel Room Workout

From my hotel room at Hyatt Place in Atlanta, Georgia…

I’ve been traveling a lot recently, and have been without my kettlebells while on the road. So I’ve had to improvise with body weight exercises for a quick hotel room workout — because I’m just not that into hotel fitness centers.

So here’s what I’ve done, and it’s worked pretty well to keep my conditioning up.

(Just finished a set and my heart’s thumping and my breath is heavy!)

My quick hotel room workout:

- Do 5 burpees (video below)
- Rest, counting to 10 seconds
- Repeat 8 times back to back (roughly 4 minutes)

This is roughly equivalent to a Tabata interval workout.

It engages many of your muscles in dynamic work. And the cardio on it is killer — despite the deceptive simplicity of the workout.

While on the road you should do this at least once a day — preferably 2-5 times for maximum benefit.

And you don’t have to use this as just a hotel room workout either, because this can be done anywhere, with no equipment needed.

Stay strong!

Roy

P.S. — Here’s the video of burpees, if you’re not familiar:
