Kettlebell Secrets: Can you pass the “Sandal Test?”

Got this email from Geoff over at Kettlebell Secrets today, and thought you’d be helped by it so I’m passing it on.

Hey Roy,

Normally, I leave you alone on Wednesdays.

But, after a session with a couple I trained
last night, I just had to pass this on.

Do you know what the “Sandal Test” is?

It’s a test we use on the Get Up to see how
linked or connected your body is.

It’s a great way to determine how much
weight you can handle and whether or not
you are ready to add weight to your Get
Up.

Here’s how you take the test:

Place a sandal, or flip-flop on your fist and
perform your Get Up.

Sound easy?

Try it.

It’s not.

It’s a great diagnostic tool to show you
where you’re leaking tension during the
exercise.

If you pass this and think it’s too easy, then
up the ante – use a bottle of water, about a
quarter full.

When you can do this on both sides, you’re
ready to add weight or increase your weight.

Train Smart,

Geoff
