Saw a cool Men’s Fitness article recently on New NFL Training Methods, thought I’d share. In it, it reveals the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans have both added kettlebells to their weight rooms recently.
The description of “why” they did is more telling — and why kettlebells should and will continue to be adopted by more and more athletes:
The biggest benefit? When players swing a kettlebell, the weight distribution changes, unlike with regular dumbbells where weight remains equal. This forces the user to stabilize more parts of his body, hitting his core, and helping to increase grip strength as he adjusts to control the weight.
Exactly why kettlebells are such a powerful training method!
Other new training methods? Bikram “Hot” Yoga, Mixed Martial Arts, and Acupuncture. Interesting.
Stay strong!

Roy,
Hope you’re well. There are a number of NFL and NCAA-BCS teams using kettlebells now. There are so many reasons that they benefit guys on the gridiron. I wish I had known about them when I was playing!
Train with purpose,
