Dragon Door/RKC sponsors legendary MMA fighter, Fedor Emelianenko in upcoming battle against Dan Henderson, on Showtime

Dragon Door, the originator of the modern kettlebell movement and the world’s premier site for Kettlebells, strength conditioning and advanced fitness resources, is proud to announce its sponsorship of legendary fighter Fedor Emelianenko in his upcoming battle against Dan Henderson on July 30th at the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates, IL.

The fight will be broadcast at 10:00 EST on Showtime: http://sports.sho.com/#/tvschedule

Shrouded in mystique in the world of Mixed Martial Arts, many aficionados have hailed Fedor as the greatest to ever do it, the Muhammad Ali of his sport. He remains one of the most fearsome and talented heavyweights in the world — and practically a national hero in Russia. The Fedor-Henderson fight is being heavily advertised and promoted in the homeland and some fans are calling it ‘Fedor’s Second Coming’.

Dragon Door launched its RKC kettlebell training system in 2001, sparking a worldwide revolution in effective strength and conditioning for elite athletes, martial artists, military and all those seeking a supreme level of functional fitness.

Dragon Door’s RKC programs offer a wealth of kettlebell information for generating superior strength and power — including books, seminars, training certification programs, equipment and DVDs. Many of the resources are considered modern classics, including Enter the Kettlebell: Strength Secret of the Soviet Supermen (http://www.dragondoor.com/b33/?apid=KettlebellWall) written by former Soviet Special Forces physical training instructor Pavel Tsatsouline.

American hardmen of all stripes were quick to recognize what their Russian counterparts had long known — nothing beats the kettlebell, when you’re looking for a single tool to dramatically impact your strength and conditioning.

“This is an ideal fit for our team,” writes John Du Cane, Founder and CEO of Dragon Door . “A great believer himself in kettlebells, Fedor embodies strength and power, and that’s what our company has been all about for the past 20 years — no gimmicks or fads, only hard work and training that builds resilience, strength and power.”

Look for Dragon Door’s RKC double-eagle logo displayed on Fedor’s shorts on fight night!

As originator with Pavel Tsatsouline of the modern kettlebell movement, Du Cane has spent decades building the world’s most informed and proficient community of kettlebell instructors, now in 43 countries and every U.S. state.

Dragon Door/RKC offers Certification Workshops (http://www.dragondoor.com/workshops/?apid=KettlebellWall) around the globe — from Budapest to San Diego to Philadelphia, to Korea to Belfast — providing the highest quality kettlebell instructor program available. Pavel’s Russian Kettlebell Challenge Certification Workshop gives professionals a crash course in Advanced Strength Skills, ignites new business opportunities, and propels attendees into the front ranks of physical excellence. An enthusiastic following of leading fitness and athletic authorities, trainers, doctors and therapists around the world have supported and attended their workshops since 2001.

“[Kettlebells] revolutionized and rejuvenated my training” from a 56-year-old

I just got this submission on the KettlebellWall.com be featured page. It’s from Steve McKanna, a 56-year-old PE teacher and former track coach, plus HKC, soon-to-be RKC, who discovered kettlebells recently and it has — according to him — revolutionized and rejuvenated his training.

Here’s Steve…

I started training with kettlebells in 2008. I read an article about Anthony Dilugilo(aos) in our local paper. I used a 16kg bell once and I was hooked.

I am a PE teacher former track coach and held a CSCS for 10 years.I surf, play golf and used to run and do triathlons.

I have three teenagers at home and when I found the kettlebell it revolutionized and rejuvenated my training.

I became HKC certified in the summer of 2010 and am getting ready for the RKC in St. Paul in April 2011.

I’m 56 years old and the kettlebell gives me the perfect tool for a balance of strength, stamina, endurance and mobility.

My wife and kid’s all use kettlebells. Each of my kids play three sports and kettlebell training fits in perfectly to their schedules.

Stay strong Steve! And good luck on your upcoming certification.

For anyone else who’d like to tell their kettlebell story in more detail on this site (including getting a link to your training or other kettlebell related site, if you have one) check out the be featured page.

And to all of you — STAY STRONG!

Video: Winners Never Give Up

This isn’t kettlebell related at all.

It’s a video a friend sent to me, and I could present it in one of two ways.

  1. It’s funny. Watch and laugh. Sad, but funny.
  2. The lesson he’s trying to teach is actually pretty powerful. Winners never give up. Often you’re just one more try away from success when you’ve reached your most embarrassing failure.

Choose which interpretation works for you.

RKC Kettlebell Certification Testimonials From Italy Workshop

Got this email from John Du Cane recently and I thought the praise was especially interesting — so I wanted to share with you and make sure you saw it:

On Tue, May 18, 2010 at 7:54 AM, John Du Cane wrote:

Within a week or two we will have translations of all the Italian praise for our first-ever RKC in Italy. In the meantime, here are the comments we received in English:

Italy May 2010 Russian Kettlebell Challenge Certification Workshop—Participant Praise

Paul McIlroy

This was the most comprehensive insight to kettlebell/strength training I’ve ever experienced and I’ve experienced a lot! It’s also the toughest thing I’ve ever done full stop!

Pavel is like a Jedi Master, I’ve read all his books and came in thinking I’d know most things… way wrong! Learned more than I ever thought possible.
Pavel’s depth of knowledge knows no bounds. The Senior Instructors where perfect examples of The RKC Hard Style, they taught it with great depth and understanding.

I have a degree in sports science, CSCS; I boxed for 10 years. I won the World Junior Power Lifting Championship. I’ve been working in the fitness industry for years, this beats everything hands down!!!!

Massimo Conpalonieri

Very tough, hard training, great attention to techniques.

I find all the instructors very well prepared and available for suggestions to the students. They teach very clearly and they look at the applications of their advises to exercises.

I had a background in martial arts and running and I think that kettlebells have a strong carryover to sports.

Belpulsi Max

RKC is the best approach to kettlebell training, either for professional or for normal people who want to make a change in their life. RKC is not just another “tool in the box” it is a real life change that happens from the first minute you step into it.

Thanks for everything guys, keep doing the great job. Proud to be an RKC!

Giuseppe Galbiati

The RKC is a great course where I can find a good energy and feeling with all: instructors and students. Also it’s a great experience for few people. So I understand in three days maybe what I can’t learn in 1 year.

Pavel is very great man and teaching with great technique. Also instructors and team leaders are very well prepared.

For more information on or to register for an upcoming RKC workshop see the complete list here.

A ‘Smoker’ of a Bodyweight and Kettlebell Circuit Workout

Quick guest post today from Forest Vance. Dig this combo of kettlebell and bodyweight — my two favorite workout implements!

A ‘Smoker’ of a Bodyweight and Kettlebell Circuit Workout

By Forest Vance

Picture this: You’re short on time and you’re in need of a great workout. You have a single kettlebell, but you’re not exactly sure how to put together a series of exercises that will do the job of giving you a balanced, full-body workout, and do it quick. Good news: I’ve got a workout that’s right up your alley!

You don’t need a lot of fancy equipment to get an amazing workout: Try this full-body bodyweight and kettlebell circuit. All you’ll need is a single kettlebell and about 20 minutes to spare. After a thorough warm-up, here’s the exact sequence of exercises that you’re going to perform:

  • 5 Burpees
  • 10 KB Squat Cleans
  • 15 Lunges
  • 20 KB Swings
  • 25 Sit Ups

Repeat this sequence twice as fast as you can.

This workout hits all of your major muscle groups, can be performed in about 20 minutes, and gets you both a resistance training and cardio workout all at the same time. You could do this one instead of a cardio session, or even by itself if you’re pressed for time.

Now, this is just ‘one-off’ type of kettlebell routine; if you’re going to maximize the benefits of kettlebell training, you need to have a comprehensive program that utilizes all of the basic exercises and puts them together into a logical progression over time. You also want to make sure you’re focusing in on mastering the basic exercises and not falling victim to the information overload of kettlebell resources that are floating around out there.

If you’re ready to maximize the benefits of your kettlebell training efforts and start making some real progress, check out the KettlebellBasics.net Quick Start Guide at http://kettlebellbasics.net/kettlebellbasics-net-quick-start-guide
